How matchmaking works, what happens if nobody is available, scoring, and fair-play rules.

A duel is five questions against another student in real time — usually about two minutes end to end.
Matchmaking
- Start a search from the duel page and pick a topic if you want one.
- Friends who are also searching are matched first, then other students at a similar level.
- If nobody suitable is found within a short window, you are matched with an AI opponent so the search never ends empty.
Scoring
Accuracy is weighted first and answer speed second, so fast guessing is not a winning strategy. Results feed your progress statistics and the leaderboards.
Common issues
- Search seems stuck: check your connection — matchmaking needs a live connection to update.
- Opponent disconnected: the match resolves automatically and your result is recorded.
- Invitation not received: the other player must have you as an accepted friend.
Fair play
Collusion, automation and attempts to manipulate results are detected and acted on, including removal from leaderboards. Duels are only useful as revision if the scores mean something.
