Pulse & Calls

Voice and video calls

Starting a call, granting camera and microphone permissions, and fixing audio or video problems.

Last updated 2026-06-22

Calls are available inside any Pulse conversation with an accepted friend. Open the conversation and choose the voice or video call button.

Permissions

Your browser will ask for microphone and, for video, camera access the first time. If you dismissed the prompt, the call cannot connect — open the site permissions in your browser's address bar and set camera and microphone to Allow, then reload the page.

Troubleshooting

  • No sound: check the browser is not muted, then confirm the correct output device is selected in your operating system.
  • Camera shows black: another application may be holding the camera. Close video-conferencing apps and reload.
  • Choppy audio or frozen video: this is almost always bandwidth. Turn video off to preserve audio quality.
  • Call will not start: refresh both sides. Calls need both participants to be online and the friendship to be active.
  • On mobile, browsers block calls on insecure connections — make sure you are on the standard https site.

Privacy

Calls are peer-to-peer between participants. We do not record calls. Never share personal financial details on a call with someone you do not know offline.
